As a parish family, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will work to build God's Kingdom by creating opportunities for our parishioners, our community and our visitors, to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way, to set their hearts on fire with His love and to challenge them to become fully engaged disciples.
Over the past several years we have endeavored to improve the substance and impact of our High School Confirmation program for the youth of our parish. Additionally, we have been working with a subset of our High School and Jr. High School youth to offer opportunities for them to serve those in need, learn about Catholic Social Teaching and grow together in fellowship with one another. As a result, we have seen a significant improvement in the involvement of our youth and have learned a lot about what works best to reach today’s youth with the message of love, hope and service offered by God and the Catholic Church.
Our High School Confirmation program consists of three years of learning, sharing and growing together in our faith. With portions of the program being done jointly, students from all grade levels are given the opportunity to interact with one another, building community and support for one another in their faith journeys.
The program consists of two years of exploring the fundamentals of our faith and what it means to be in relationship with Jesus as one of his disciples through a program called Chosen. This program uses a combination of video presentation, text book work and small group discussion time to learn about and grow in our faith.
The third year involves final preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Using a program called Decision Point, our youth explore in greater detail the fundamental understanding of discipleship and the mission we are all called to as Catholic Christians. It not only prepares them for the sacrament, it also launches them on their adult faith journey, firmly grounded in the teachings of Jesus and his Church.
Our ultimate goal is the help our students to encounter Jesus in a personal way, and to have this relationship form the foundation for the rest of their life’s journey. It is our hope that they will leave the program being able to clearly answer life’s most important questions:
