As a parish family, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will work to build God's Kingdom by creating opportunities for our parishioners, our community and our visitors, to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way, to set their hearts on fire with His love and to challenge them to become fully engaged disciples.
The Lay Assumptionists of St. Anne - St. Patrick Parish, a group which begun in 2014, are men and women who meet approximately once a month to pray, share and learn about the spirituality of the founder of the Augustinians of the Assumption, Fr. Emmanuel d'Alzon.
As Lay Assumptionists, they are a group unlike any other in the parish. They do not have a specific role like the Finance Committee, The Liturgy Committee, St. Vincent de Paul, etc. They come together as a group, with Christ being the center of their lives. As stated in their Way of Life, 'We seek to know, love and imitate Christ more and more each day.' Their goal is to grow spiritually in their love for Christ and His Mother, Mary. This is who they are.
Just as the Assumptionists follow their Rule of Life, they too, follow the Way of Life for the Lay Assumptionists. If they are sincere in doing this, it affects everything they do - everyone they meet. They represent many different ministries in the parish, and as Lay Assumptionists, they bring their spirituality to every Ministry they are involved in. This is what they do.
They are not an apostolate driven group, but as the Spirit has already led them to embrace an apostolate of educating young people in the Philippines, they follow His lead and do His work wherever He brings them. They are here to study, to pray, to share and to grow spiritually. If they do this, then whatever else they undertake, they do it for Christ. They are here not only to know and love Christ, but to make Him known and loved by every person they meet.
The Lay Assumptionists meet in Fiskdale at the parish approximately every six weeks from 6-8 pm for prayer, reflection and communal sharing.
