As a parish family, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will work to build God's Kingdom by creating opportunities for our parishioners, our community and our visitors, to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way, to set their hearts on fire with His love and to challenge them to become fully engaged disciples.
Baptism is the first of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic faith. The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Communion and Confirmation. A sacrament is an action, a physical sign given to us by Christ so that we can experience the loving and strengthening grace of God. Through baptism we become members of the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ - the Church.
Parents requesting baptism for their children are required to attend a Baptismal instruction class prior to the baptism. This class is a helpful and encouraging tool for parents as they become the primary teachers of the faith for their child. Baptisms are a community affair and are celebrated at certain weekend Masses. At Saint Anne-Saint Patrick Parish, the instruction class is taken place on the first Saturday of the month and the Baptism is celebrated at the 10 am Mass on Sunday.
For adults, those interested in learning more about joining the Catholic Church are invited to participated in the RCIA program. This is a wonderful and enriching process to becomes full members of the Catholic Church. Unbaptized adults and other adults who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation, are welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil, as the climax of their participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
